The thought of reconnecting with high school classmates makes me feel happy! Please feel free to leave me a message on my gmail or CELL phone. Would love to hear from you? Cogmmm@gmail,com, Facebook, 423-718-7017. I remember how overwhelmed I felt my first day at DuVal, '62. My twin Wayne & I din't know anyone having just relocated to New Carrollton. Previously we were living in Bristol, VA. The first person I met that day was Jan Nicholas (SP?), & we are still in-touch today. Presently, living in LaFayette, Georgia just 20 minutes south of Chattanooga Tennessee. Retired around 1997 due to illnesses, which causes me a lot of cronic pain. In spite of this, I just keep on keeping on! Married Robert Egbert in 1967. We have two children, Jennifer April 19, 1971 & Justin, March 12, 1974. We divorced 1978. Worked for Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company, starting as a "Information" operator. Promoted to Assisted Manager & ran the central office in charge of the largest long distance management in the country. Estimated call volumes every 15 minutes & drew operator schedules, budgets, etc Left there after the birth of my daughter & took a secretary job in the "Directory Assistance" central control. Left to give birth to my son in the spring 1974. Returned part time, Part Time managing records for business switch boards. Left there full time as Secretary in Marketing Training. Promoted to Executive Secretary, Divesture. Then promoted to Assistance Manager, personnel, then worked as a trouble shooter. Course Developer, & Instructed in a few different positions, Taught Tele-communications technology at the G.SA & Department of Justice. Wrote Tele-communications technology courses for the Pentagon. This is when all the long hours & long commutes. teenagers, caught up with me. I felt like I hit a brick wall, went down for the count & have never really recovered. -G1ad to have had all the opportunifies- writing and instructing where my niches. Like everyone my children and grandchildren are my greatest Biessings and lessons! Meanwhile, my children grew up while supporting them, being both Mom & Dad , etc. Now, I am the proud Grandmother of 6 grandchildren & as November, 2014, a great Grandmother! Didn't want to stay as Egbert, my married name. So after my son left home, I changed my last name to my birth month, May. For ten years studied "Loving Touch Therapy" and "concionable living for the Greater Good". Now I am trying to start a jewelry business, AuroraJewels. (website not finished) Looking to move back to Maryland, but have 3 wonderful dogs & not sure of all the logistics. Many thanks to cveryone working. to make this Event happen! Again, would love to hear how you are? |

Married 45 years, Donna and I met at American University in DC after she finished studies at a Seminary! I spent a rewarding career in public education in Southern Maryland ... taught six years in PGCo (my first two with William Miles as principal!); supervised special education programs; was principal for five years of a school for special needs students (the best job I ever had!); the last 15 years of my career I served as Human Resources directorf or two different Southern Maryland school systems - recruiting, hiring, managing and negotiating contracts for Charles, then St. Mary's County. Since retirement, I've continued to work coordinating local national assessments in NC schools, working as a starter at Pinehurst No. 8 Golf Course, and using my retirement experiences to conduct pre-retirement seminars back in Maryland. Donna and I have two adult daughters, and three young grandkids - Elise, Emma, and Jack (aka "the Jackalope"!) We're retired in Pinehurst, NC for the last 10 years - the most perfect location to retire! Yeah, we play golf, some tennis, too ... and have thoroughly enjoyed traveling, with Tibet, the Galapagos, Machu Picchu, and the Baltics as our favorites. Over the years, we have been so blessed and proud to have maintained close friendships with a number of DuVal classmates. Preparing for the reunion has been a blast! Never realized in 1964 that the presidency was for life! |
