After graduation, only 1 month after graduation that is, I was employed with USDA. Other than 2 years that I worked for NASA, and a little time off to have babies, my career expanded over 36 year until I retired from USDA in 2004.
In May 1967, I married the love of my life, William (Bill) Adams, who by-the-way attended our rival school, Bladensburg. He graduated from Bladensburg in 1963. So I'm sure you can imagine the ribbing that has gone on between the two of us for all these years. The two of us were also childhood playmates, neighbors, and close friends who grew up together and became real close friends when we entered into a wonderful marriage going on 49 years ago. After five days of marriage Bill left for a 15-month tour in Vietnam on the Navy Aircraft
Carrier USS Forrestal, while I continued working for USDA and a 2nd nighttime job in a
restaurant. However, because of a terrible accident aboard Bill's ship, only two months to
the day of our marriage, Bills tour was cut short and he returned to the U.S.. Today, the film
that Bill recorded of that terrible accident that took 134 lives is being used for training in many venues and has been on You Tube, the Military Channel, Discovery Channel, and History Channel. Some of you may have seen or have even been trained by the video. Needless to say, our original plan for a four-year waiting period for starting a family "immediately" changed. Our daughter, Lisa was born approximately 14 months later in September. Four years thereafter, also in the month of September, our daughter, Cindy was born. We have also been blessed with two beautiful grandchildren, Ashley and Alexa.
Bill and I have always done everything together, including our retirement in 2004. I
retired from USDA and he retired from NASA on the same day, same time, two different
agencies.
As most of us, I have had many trials and up and downs over these 50 years. But God has brought us through all of them. I think we just need to look to Him for our help. " with God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26 KJV)

Comment:
I met and married my husband of 47 years after my junior year at the University of North Carolina. I went on to teach and be a media specialist in Anne Arundel County while Ed attended law school. I got my M.Ed from Bowie in 1974 and continued to teach until the arrival of our two daughters adopted from Chile in 1981 and 1983. That adoption made a real difference in our lives: we studied Spanish and became fluent and made many friends during our trips back to Chile. Both daughters are now married, finished college, and have presented us with a grandchild each. Life is good!
After teaching, I found that simply staying at home with the children, although wonderful, left me needing adult contact. With a friend, I took lessons to become a travel agent and served as a consultant to my adoption agency, editing a newsletter for new parents. In 2001, I opened my own company, Absolutely Travel. My husband and I love to travel so this job suits me well.
It seems impossible that it has been 50 years since we graduated. I wish much happiness to all my classmates and hope that this finds you healthy and at ease with your lives. I will be sorry to miss the reunion.
